#339 - Tracking Performance and Forecasting Results With Control Account Value Analysis
Description:
This session will examine how Control Account Value Analysis (CAVA) compares the planned and actual cost of each completed control account to assess cost efficiency, and the planned and actual control account completion dates to assess ongoing progress. It also tracks vendor agreements for future work in assessing the cost performance picture. The key is to divide the project schedule into phases and control accounts that are appropriate to the work flow and the need for gate reviews. CAVA also supports portfolio management, through comparison of graphics that illustrate time and cost status and forecasts of multiple projects.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: (1) compare the limitations of conventional earned value methods with the features and improvements possible through CAVA; (2) recognize ways to visualize project status, performance and progress in the context of portfolio management.
